Slay the Giant
One Verse at a Time
A Defining Moment
At our annual PK (Preacher’s Kids) Retreat over Labor Day weekend, I (Darryl Wootton, Superintendent of the Oklahoma Assemblies of God) will attempt to quote the entire book of Hebrews from memory—all 303 verses.
We’re inviting you to sponsor me—per verse. But there’s a twist: You only pay for the verses I quote correctly. That’s right. If I miss it, you keep your money.
Why Now?
Our camp debt of $4.7 million is more than a financial issue—it’s a spiritual barrier. And the clock is ticking.
- The bank note comes due at the end of this year.
Our current interest rate is 3.15%—but that will double. - If we eliminate the debt, we redirect those funds to:
- Revitalize struggling churches
- Plant new life-giving churches
- Support missionaries across the globe
- Fuel the Great Commission in Oklahoma and beyond
Paying interest to a bank is not the vision.
Empowering the Kingdom of God is.
How You Can Help
Would you consider becoming a sponsor for this Slay the Giant campaign?
Here’s how it works:
- Pledge any amount per verse (for example, $5, $10, or more)
- Multiply your pledge by the number of verses quoted correctly
- Donate after the challenge is complete
- Share it with your church, friends, and family
Why it Matters
Camp Cargill is more than cabins and recreation—it’s sacred ground. Last year alone, over 8,500 students and leaders encountered God there.
It’s where callings are confirmed.
Chains are broken.
Lives are changed forever.
We need you.
We need your church.
We need to spread the word.
Let’s join the battle.
Let’s speak the Word.
Let’s crush the debt.
One verse at a time.
A Final Word from Darryl & Faith
This goal may seem impossible—but we serve the God of the impossible.
Will you help us slay this giant?
We love you,
Darryl & Faith
