Lead Pastor: Bryon Akerman
Church Website: www.thechurchokc.org
Job Description:
We’re looking for a passionate and consistent leader to guide our Kids Ministry at The Church OKC. This role is about more than childcare—it’s about shaping the next generation, supporting families, and creating spaces where kids can truly encounter Jesus. Our Kids Ministry includes Nursery, Pre-K, and K– 5th grade on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, along with childcare for special events as needed. This position involves organizing teaching schedules, preparing engaging and Christ-centered
lessons, planning fun events for kids throughout the year, and building a strong volunteer team. Just as important, it’s about connecting with families so both kids and parents feel known, supported, and
encouraged.
We’re looking for someone who loves kids and loves Jesus, but also carries a heart for broken people. Many of our families are coming out of tough places—some from prison, some from addiction—and we believe kids ministry plays a powerful role in breaking cycles and building new futures. You don’t need
decades of experience to step into this role. If you’re just out of college or new in your calling, we’d love to give you the chance to grow. What matters most is that you bring compassion, patience, and a
willingness to walk with kids and families through both the messy and the beautiful moments.
The Church OKC isn’t a typical church, and we like it that way. We’re energetic, creative, and passionate about seeing lives transformed. We want someone who is dependable and dedicated, but we also care
deeply about your mental, physical, and spiritual health. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to invest in kids, grow in your calling, and be part of a church that has a blast living out the hope of Jesus together.
Church/Pastor Information:
The Church OKC is a vibrant, Spirit-filled community where ancient faith meets everyday life.We are a PAC Church that is a place where anyone can find belonging, encounter God, and step into the story He’s writing for their lives.
Sundays are the heartbeat of our community. We gather at 10:30 AM for worship that is both grounded in Scripture and alive with the presence of God.
But church doesn’t stop on Sunday. Freedom Reigns meets on Tuesday nights, walking with people through recovery and breakthrough. On Wednesdays, we pause at noon for Prayer & Communion, and then gather again in the evening for Worship & Word. These rhythms keep us rooted, refreshed, and ready to live out our faith in the real world.
Our mission reaches beyond our walls. Through Ignite 405, our transitional program for women coming out of prison or addiction, we provide housing, mentoring, and practical tools to build a new future. Our prison ministry brings the hope of Jesus behind bars, reminding men and women that no one is beyond the reach of His grace. These ministries aren’t side projects—they’re at the core of who we are.
We’re not trying to put on a show or build a crowd—we’re building people. We believe in being a multigenerational family, rooted in ancient practices that still speak today, and passionate about living out the hope of Jesus in everyday life. At The Church OKC, you don’t just attend church—you are the Church.
