One Calling, Three Levels:

1. Certification

For ministry laypersons, staff, and volunteers involved in part-time ministry and Christian service who want to enhance their ministry skills


Certification Requirements:


  • Completion of required Certified Level Courses
  • Participating in a valid ministry that requires the applicant to hold credentials
  • Membership in an Assemblies of God church for at least one year
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Agreement with and adherence to the 16 Tenants of Faith

2. Licensure

For those who desire to devote their life to preaching and operating in the full gospel ministry, show clear evidence of a Divine call, and wish to be active in full-time ministry.


Licensure Requirements:


  • Meets all Certification level requirements
  • Completion of required courses for Certified and Licensed levels
  • Must be current on tithe to all Assemblies of God offices

3. Ordination

For those who’ve dedicated their life to ministering full-time, give proof of their divine call and maturity, and qualify for a wide range of leadership responsibilities in the full-time gospel ministry


Ordination Requirements:


  • Meets all Certification and Licensure level requirements
  • Completion of the required courses for all levels
  • Held License credentials for at least two years
  • Must be at least 23 years of age
  • Must be current on tithe to all Assemblies of God offices

To become a credentialed minister with the Oklahoma Assemblies of God, all applicants must meet the following qualifications:

    Faith And Adherence

        • New Birth Experience: Must have experienced the new birth (John 3:5).
        • Baptism in the Holy Spirit: Demonstrated by the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4).
        • Divine Call to Ministry: A clear, divine call to the ministry.
        • Blameless Christian Life: A lifestyle that is blameless and exemplary of Christian values.
        • Doctrinal Agreement: Understanding of and agreement with our doctrinal position as outlined in the Statement of Fundamental Truths.
        • Knowledge of Fellowship Principles: A working knowledge of the principles, practices, and purposes of the Assemblies of God Fellowship.
        • Loyalty and Cooperation: Loyalty to our constitutional agreements, a cooperative spirit, and a readiness to seek and receive counsel from experienced ministers.
        • District Credentials Committee: Must be interviewed by the District Credentials Committee, pass required exams, and complete equivalent training approved by the General Council.

    Marriage Status

        Ministerial credentials are generally not granted if either marriage partner has a former spouse living, except in cases of:



        • Pre-conversion
        • Abandonment by an unbeliever
        • Spousal abuse
        • Domestic violence
        • Annulment or dissolution


        Exceptions may be considered and approved through the Oklahoma District Council and General Council upon submission and approval of the applicable application.

    Background Report

        A comprehensive background report is required, covering:


        • Criminal and misdemeanor records
        • Credit history, including any judgments, bankruptcies, or collection items

        These matters must be discussed and explicitly explained during the credential application process.

    Ministers From Other Organizations

        The Credentials Committee will evaluate each applicant from other organizations on an individual basis.

Educational Requirements

To ensure a strong biblical foundation and practical ministry skills, each level of credentialing requires the completion of specific coursework. Students with a Bible or ministries MAJOR (not minor) from an Assemblies of God college or university will qualify as follows:

Your Steps to Apply

    STEP 1: Credentialing Request Form

        Click the link below to fill out the Credentialing Request Form. Once we receive your completed form, a member of the OKAG Credentialing Office will be in contact with you.

    STEP 2: Credential Application & Fee

        Once your request is approved, the credential application and payment link will be emailed to you. All items below must be included to submit your application:


        • Photo: a digital headshot is fine 
        • Two Forms of ID: copies of your social security card and driver’s license
        • Transcripts: copies of any Bible school transcripts (Oklahoma School of Ministry transcripts will be provided).
        • Fee: A $100 fee (payable by check to the Oklahoma District Council or online, noting it is for the credential fee).

    STEP 3: Credential Exams

        Upon approval of your application, you will receive an email invitation with study guides for the required exams.


        All exams must be taken by September 1st within the year following your application.

    STEP 4: Credential Interview

        After successful completion of your exam, you’ll schedule your credential interview with your Presbyter. A copy of your application will be sent to the Presbyter of your church's section.


        Credential interviews may be in-person or by telephone based on the Presbytyr’s discretion.

    STEP 5: Credential Review & Recognition

        Upon approval from General Council, we’ll notify you and present you with your Assemblies of God Fellowship Card and Certificate. 

        Incomplete applications or failure to attend Required Attendance events will cause applicants to be moved to the next open application term.
