Lydias for Life

"One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message." -Acts 16:14

Lydias for LIFE is a special program sponsored by the Oklahoma District Women's Ministries department. The LIFE in "Lydias for LIFE" stands for Ladies Investing For Eternity. LIFE is the missions arm of Oklahoma Women's Ministries.

Lydia in the Book of Acts was a businesswoman, a seller of purple. She was a godly woman who let the Lord open her heart and she responded to the needs of the church in Thyatira. Women across Oklahoma have also opened their hearts and responded to the needs of the district Women's Ministries department.

The funds from this program go toward ministry to women in Oklahoma. Assemblies of God women have always been faithful to raise money for the needs of our missionaries and other missions projects in the U.S. and around the world. To insure that all of the monies received will go to these projects, we have instituted Lydias for LIFE to be used for the operation of the district Women's Ministries department.

Each woman who makes a commitment to become a Lydia contributes at least $10.00 monthly, $30.00 quarterly, or $120.00 yearly to the Oklahoma District Women's Ministries department. After paying the first $120.00, she receives a special yellow gold or white gold pin or pendant. Every year, thereafter, a purple stone is added to her Lydia jewelry. The Lydia year runs from May to April of the following year.

"I can still remember the Sunday morning that God opened my heart to the needs of missions and the needs of the district Women's Ministries department. God began to show me how we could offset the expenses in our district office. Out of that Lydias for LIFE was born. Lydias has made it possible for us to do more for our missionaries and also to defray the expenses needed to operate our district WM office. In the bible Lydia was a Godly woman whose heart was open to the Spirit and she responded to the needs of the Church. As Lydia persuaded Paul and others to come to her house, I hope I can persuade you to become a Lydia for LIFE. Together as we open our hearts and worship the Lord, we can make a difference."

"Just as it takes cash to keep a home or business running, it takes money to run a department. The Oklahoma District Women's Department has a tradition of giving to every missionary need. That commitment costs. The Lydia program enables the department to say yes to missionary needs. My contribution is as necessary as my monthly pledge to missionay support. It all furthers the Kingdom of God."

"I believe in Lydias for LIFE because it is an investment in God's Kingdom work. What we have given to advance the work of the Kingdom is all that is lasting."

"I chose to join Lydias for LIFE because it is a very practical way to kep our Women's Ministries department running smoothly while giving them the opportunity to use the other unds that come in for our ministry projects. This is the balancing tool that is needed to be most effective with the money that is given. I give $15.00 per month instead of $10.00 because I believe it is worth it. God's speed with this wonderful program! It has my endorsement completely."
