What is it?

Background of PZPs

The original concept of Prayer Zone Partners came from the heart of David Mewbourne, former Oklahoma district Youth Alive Director. One day while David drove to work, he realized he was late and found himself stuck in a school zone. David slowed to the posted speed limit.

David realized he would be delayed further because of the school zone. As he complained to himself, he experienced a God moment; one of those moments when God gets your attention. God quickly reminded David of his own personal commitment to schools, students, teachers, and campus ministry.

God spoke to David's heart and showed him that traveling through a school zone was an excellent time to pray for that school instead of complain about being late. From the point on in his life, David converted school zones into prayer zones.

Today, thousands of people have adopted schools as prayer zones.

A Prayer Zone Partner (PZP) commits to pray for students, schools, teachers, and administrators at a particular school.

Prayer Zone Partneres are:

  • ADULTS who adopt (a) school(s) by committing to pray for its students, faculty and administrators when they drive through a school zone, transforming it into a Prayer Zone.
  • STUDENTS and educators who pray walk in the halls or around the grounds of a school.
  • GROUPS of mobilized prayer on and off the campus that have joined the movement.

Become a PZP! It's absolutely free and you will receive an annual PZP update regarding what is happening in America through PZPs.

Here are some ideas to help you pray for the school(s) in your community.

  • Commit to a regular prayer time for a campus.
  • Use the scripture prayers to help you pray for a campus.
  • Pray for the school when driving through a school zone.
  • Consider doing a prayer walk around a campus after school hours

Prayer Zone Partners and Your Church

Make Prayer Zone Partners a vital ministry of your church by following this plan:

  1. Order enough brochures and static stickers for everyone in the congregation.
  2. Plan a Sunday morning presentation of Prayer Zone Partners to the church.
  3. Distribute a brochure to everyone in the congregation either in the church bulletin or through student ushers.
  4. Give a brief presentation on the ministry of Prayer Zone Partners, including the use of the static sticker, and ask people to personally sign up as a PZP.
  5. Use student ushers to collect the sign-ups as the people leave the service.
  6. Provide a static sticker to everyone who returns a completed PZP form.
  7. Copy the data for your records and forward the data or forms to the national Youth Alive office.
  8. Begin a regular communication to all the PZPs in your church. Keep them informed of the answered prayers and great victories in your campus ministry.

Campus Prayer Guide

Pray for the students.
The students are in the most strategic position to reach the campus with the message of the gospel.

PRAY…

  • for the salvation of students.
  • for the effective and wise ministry of campus missionaries.
  • for the safety of our schools.
  • for God's anointing on the campus clubs.
  • for the distribution of Gospel literature.
  • that everyone on campus may receive a clear presentation of the Gospel.
  • that Jesus will be glorified.

Pray for the school(s).
School boards, principals, teachers and counselors are in key positions to influence the campus.
Pray for:

  • for the salvation of administrators, teachers and staff
  • that God would give wisdom to the administrators, teachers, and counselors at your adopted school(s)
  • for the school board and superintendent of the school district
  • for campus staffteacher assistants, cooks, bus drivers, and maintenance personnel
  • that the Campus Bible Club will be used to reach the campus
  • for Christian teachers, administrators, and local Christian Education Associations.
